"I'm tickled pink with the oil [AMSOIL Synthetic 15W-40 Heavy Duty Diesel and Marine Oil (AME)]. We've paid for a little over half a barrel of oil just on the materials we've saved through extending our drain intervals. That doesn't count labor costs."

New life Mills installed AME in the 350 hp Caterpillar engine of a 1993 Freightliner 120 Conventional truck 146,533 km (91,070 miles) ago - and the original fill is still in service.

"This is our main truck for feed deliveries. It's on the road 10 to 12 hours a day and home each night. Fifty percent of the time it's on highways. The other fify percent, it's on back roads in sand country, making lots of stops and starts. I'd add 15 to 20 percent to the reported kilometers for idling or blowing time while deliveries are being made." Boyd agreed with the Service Line that this was hard service for both engine and oil.

The engine has 401,313km (249,417 miles) on it, so it's too early to tear it down to see how it's wearing. However, Boyd said he was pleased with the wear control provided by AME based on oil analysis.

OIL ANALYSIS FINDINGS

The 146,533 km report shows oil viscosity of 13.49 cSt at 100C, which is a good midrange reading indicating no significant shearing loss or oxidation or soot-thickening gain; a Total Base Number (TBN) of 12, indicating no loss of neutralization ability; soot, oxidation and oxides of nitrogen levels are all well below condemnation limits, indicating no excessive wear; and detergent and anti-wear chemistry levels are high, showing additive levels have remained ample with no significant additive depletion.

"I have a 1993 Chevrolet S10 with a 2.8 liter V6 engine. I am a trim carpenter, so my little truck carries a lot of weight. After putting AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil, a Full-Flow oil filter and a TS Air Filter in the engine, I found that I did not have to downshift my truck from overdrive to fourth gear to get up the hills around Columbia, South Carolina . . . .Before I put the oil in my truck, I did not believe that it would allow my truck to do that. With this product, you get exactly what you pay for, and then some."

"I started using AMSOIL in 1981 in an Ag-Chem crop sprayer with a Cummins V-378 diesel engine. Early in 1993, I traded this unit for a larger and more up to date model. The first time the company's field service men came for the regular service check, they asked me what kind of oilI had been using in the machine I traded in. They told me that with over 4500 hours on the engine in extremely dirty operating conditions, they thought the engine would surely need a major overhaul. They said when the opened the engine, they could not hardly believe how clean it was and how little wear it had. Some of the engine parts that would normally have needed replacement were still within manufacturer's tolerances, and it was not necessary to replace them."
