Oil change is the act of replacing dirty used oil with new clean oil on a vehicle or machine.

(1) Ready to go:

At S.O.S. (Southern Ontario Synthetics) we have all the right tools and materials on hand, such as oil change bays or vehicle lifts, socket sets and wrenches, oil drain bins and pans. With our ultra fast service your car should still be warmed up from the drive when it is pulled into the next available bay, which helps the process since warm oil is easier to drain than cold. 

(2) Draining the Oil and Changing the Oil Filter

Our technicians quickly undo the oil drain plug and allow it to drain into our oil bins. When necessary they will position a pan beneath the plug to channel the oil into the bin and away from the underside of your vehicle. Once the drain plug is removed our technicians move on to removing the oil filter. The technicians may used oil filter channel locks or band wrenches to complete the task.  Once all the old oil is drained into the bin our technicians wipe the drain plug and the plug opening clean. They move on to replacing the drain plug and when need be providing a new gasket. The oil filter is also replaced with having given a thin layer of oil on the rubber gasket to ensure an air tight seal. Both are tightened to the perfect tension. 

(3) Ready for New Oil

  The technician on the upper level will then remove the oil filler cap . Based on your oil selection they may use and oil pump and gun or position a funnel at the opening and slowly start pouring in the new oil. Once the appropriate amount of oil is added they move close up the oil filler cap. Your vehicle is then double checked by a second technician to ensure all is good and tight. The vehicle engine is started for a minute to allow the new oil to pass through the engine. The oil dipstick is then reviewed (when needed additional oil may added to ensure proper top up).

(4) Customer Approval

At S.O.S. your satisfaction is the most important thing to us. That is why before the oil cap gets closed, our technicians will bring you the dipstick with for your review.
